New York-based Tabbed has joined the Toast Partner Ecosystem, bringing Bluetooth-enabled mobile payments and AI-driven guest intelligence natively into the Toast POS — giving full-service restaurant operators a tool set that until now has been the province of private members clubs and high-end hospitality.

The integration allows guests to automatically pair their smartphones with an open check the moment they sit down. From there they can monitor the bill, split it with tablemates in seconds, and close the tab or walk out when ready — no payment terminal, no signature, no flagged-down server. On the back end, Tabbed feeds AI-generated guest profiles directly into the Toast POS interface, surfacing dining history, preference data, visit frequency, and allergy notes before a server ever approaches the table.

The Operator Upside

The commercial case for full-service operators is straightforward. In a six-month pilot at a single Atlanta restaurant, Tabbed recorded a reduction of more than nine minutes in payment-related service time per table — a meaningful gain in table turn for any high-volume dining room. Average tips rose 24.3% during the same period, a figure Tabbed attributes to faster, more attentive service enabled by friction-free payment at the close. The platform also routes end-of-meal feedback to operators privately before surfacing satisfied guests toward public review channels, giving teams a first-mover advantage on reputation management.

Beyond the payment close, Tabbed's AI reads each live check in real time and pushes contextual upsell prompts to the server's Toast POS terminal — a wine pairing with a table's entrées, a dessert recommendation, an optimal moment for a second round. The approach is designed to lift average check naturally, replacing scripted upselling with data-informed suggestions. "There's a difference between service and hospitality," said Grant Pignio, CEO at Tabbed. "By integrating with Toast, Tabbed can put that information in front of Toast customers the moment a guest sits down, so they can focus on the guest instead of trying to recall it all."

Toast Ecosystem Context

Toast's partner ecosystem now exceeds 200 integrated technology and services providers, spanning digital ordering, loyalty, labor management, and payments. Adding Tabbed extends the platform's reach into ambient Bluetooth commerce — a relatively uncrowded niche within restaurant payments that sidesteps QR-code fatigue and requires no new hardware at the table. Nick Danforth, Senior Director of Business Development at Toast, called the partnership an opportunity to offer customers "an advanced mobile payment and guest intelligence system" that supports a more efficient and guest-centric operation.

Tabbed's advisory bench adds strategic weight to the launch. Paul Brown, Founder and CEO of Inspire Brands, and GJ Hart, CEO of SPB Hospitality, sit on the company's advisory board. The startup is backed by Branded Hospitality, with angel investors including Neal Batra, Phoebe Gates, and Jordi Hays. That combination of QSR and full-service mentorship positions Tabbed to pursue scale across multiple restaurant segments as it deepens its footprint inside the Toast install base.

For operators already running Toast who are chasing higher throughput and lower friction at the payment moment, the integration is available now through the Toast Partner Ecosystem. The broader hospitality industry's push toward AI-driven guest personalization makes the timing apt — consumers increasingly expect the recognition they get at a hotel loyalty desk to follow them into a neighborhood restaurant.
