EP Technology Group has acquired JBI Technologies Inc., a hospitality-exclusive IT consulting and systems integration firm, in a strategic transaction that positions the combined entity to expand managed services and technology infrastructure offerings across the U.S. hotel market. Founder Jerry Balousek will remain with the business in a leadership capacity, providing operational continuity through the transition.
JBI has operated since 2011 as a specialized technology services provider serving hotel properties through structured cabling, IT buildouts, new construction deployments, and ongoing support. Over 15 years, the company evolved from a project-focused boutique into a national hospitality technology partner, supporting brands through the full property lifecycle — from ground-up development to day-to-day infrastructure management. That depth of sector expertise, built exclusively within the hospitality vertical, was a primary driver of buyer interest in the transaction.
The Strategic Rationale
For EP Technology Group, the acquisition advances a growth strategy centered on expanding managed services capacity and deepening its footprint in specialized infrastructure markets. Combining JBI's hospitality-specific knowledge — spanning hotel PMS connectivity, network infrastructure, and structured cabling for new builds — with EP Technology Group's broader operational platform creates a more complete technology services offering for hotel operators evaluating infrastructure partners. As hotel brands accelerate capital programs tied to property renovations and new construction, demand for end-to-end IT integration partners with hospitality-native expertise is rising.
The deal reflects broader consolidation trends within the hospitality technology services segment, where managed service providers and IT integrators are increasingly attractive acquisition targets. Hotel operators are under pressure to modernize aging network infrastructure to support cloud-native PMS platforms, IoT-enabled guest room systems, and high-density Wi-Fi demands driven by mobile check-in and streaming. Firms like JBI, which understand the operational cadence of hotel construction timelines and brand technology standards, occupy a defensible niche that generalist MSPs struggle to replicate quickly.
What Operators Can Expect
For hotel operators currently working with JBI, the acquisition signals expanded service capacity rather than a change in strategy. Balousek's continued involvement is designed to preserve the client relationships and brand-specific institutional knowledge that differentiated the firm. With EP Technology Group's resources behind the business, JBI is expected to pursue broader service line development — potentially including expanded network and connectivity infrastructure coverage and deeper integration support for PMS and property technology platforms.
The transaction was brokered by Viking Mergers & Acquisitions, with Associate Partner Andrew Hakkarainen and Advisor Max Roix representing JBI. "JBI had established a strong reputation within a highly specialized segment of the technology services industry," Hakkarainen said. "This transaction brought together a founder who was committed to the future of the business and a buyer with the resources and strategic vision to help accelerate growth."
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
