Hotel operations software platform Actabl has appointed Susan Walker as Chief Financial Officer, adding a finance executive with more than three decades of SaaS and technology leadership as the company scales its AI and data offerings for hotel owners and management companies.
Walker arrives from Stack Overflow, where she served as CFO, and brings prior CFO tenures at Jumio, Digital Guardian, and Avention, plus a combined CFO and COO role at Telestream. She also helped steer Aspen Aerogels through its IPO and began her career as a technology equity analyst at J.P. Morgan. She holds an MBA from the Wharton School and has been recognized as CFO of the Year by the Boston Business Journal.
The Operator Angle
Walker's decision to join Actabl was driven, she says, by the margin pressure facing hotel finance teams and the role Actabl's products already play in their daily decision-making. "Hotel company leaders are facing real margin pressure, and the opportunity to help them make better decisions is what brought me here," she said, noting that her Silicon Valley vantage point gave her a clear view of how quickly AI is reshaping enterprise software. The comment is more than promotional framing: Actabl's suite — ProfitSword for business intelligence, Hotel Effectiveness for labor management, Alice for guest service, and Transcendent for asset management — is embedded in the operational and financial workflows of teams at 90% of the 50 largest U.S. hotel management companies.
What Actabl Is Building
The company is extending that installed base with AI capabilities designed to let hotel teams query financial data conversationally, surface emerging labor cost risks before they hit the P&L, and pipe data into their own systems via API integration. That positions Actabl squarely in the accelerating race among hospitality back-office vendors to layer generative AI on top of existing data infrastructure — a dynamic also reshaping revenue management and PMS platforms across the sector. For a CFO coming in, the strategic priorities are clear: defend and deepen penetration with the largest management companies while monetizing the AI layer across a user base of 180,000 hotel professionals.
CEO Steven Moore described Walker as an "exceptional finance leader and operator" who moves quickly and understood both the company's current strength and its forward opportunity. In her new role, Walker will lead Actabl's finance organization and partner with executives on investment allocation and strategic planning.
The hire reflects a broader pattern among hotel technology and labor management software vendors maturing their executive benches as they move from growth-at-all-costs to disciplined, AI-augmented expansion. With a installed base covering the majority of large U.S. management companies, Actabl's next CFO challenge is converting that penetration into durable SaaS ARR growth as AI features command premium pricing.
