TLEE Spas, a globally recognized spa development firm, is pleased to announce the launch of Spa Alkemia at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a new wellness destination that celebrates nature’s bounty and the warmth, soul and gracious hospitality of Mexico.  Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is nestled into the sand dunes along the breathtaking coastline and idyllic seclusion near the charming colonial town of San José del Cabo, attracting international travelers seeking a reset in life’s essential pleasures.  Thoughtfully designed with nature in mind, Spa Alkemia leans into the property’s prized waterfront location – where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean intersect against the backdrop of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains – instilling a sense of well-being through the primal power of the ocean and the desert landscape and blending the artisanal heritage of Mexico with the latest trends, technology and timeless healing modalities.

“We are honored to have been given the opportunity by such a prestigious hotel brand to conceptualize and execute the design of Spa Alkemia, the ultimate playground of immersive wellness experiences,” says TLEE Spas Founder and CEO, Tracy Lee. “Designed to bring to inside out and outside in, Spa Alkemia promotes healing through high-impact treatments incorporating local ingredients and enduring wisdom to heal the body and clear the mind.”

“Alkemia,” a modern Spanish adaptation of “Alquimia,” or alchemy, underscores a focus on positive transformation and heightened state of well-being through timeless therapeutic modalities.  Essential oils, farm-fresh ingredients, desert botanicals, and marine extracts fill an innovative spa menu curated by a team of wellness and beauty professionals utilizing highly effective remedies amplified by healing touch. Signature treatments include the Abundancia de Flora, a personalized exfoliation and massage with farm-to-body scrub blends; Óceano Alkemia, a multi-layered head-to-toe detox ritual with ingredients from the sea; and a portfolio of prescriptive facials enhanced by the latest skincare technology.  The menu also offers treatments for the quintessential couple’s or group retreat: The Day of Dreams invites guests to curate their own treatment experience in between dips in the private soaking pool and savoring made-to-order refreshments.

Channeling Nature’s Healing Power

TLEE Spas tapped into the refreshing environment and lush tropical landscape surrounding Spa Alkemia to create a contemporary aesthetic that pays tribute to Mexican design tradition.  Nature inspires the design through natural finishes, light-filled rooms and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor elements. Exposure to fresh sea air, coupled with the therapeutic use of algae, seaweed and other marine extracts promote detoxification and restore the body’s optimal chemical balance.  Gifts from the desert terrain promote well-being with their anti-inflammatory and deeply hydrating properties.  A private garden enclave, Alkemia al Fresco, features a heated stone table bordered by greenery, utilized for outdoor body scrubs blended with local and seasonal ingredients.

Water’s curative power figures prominently in the design with the free-form Aqua Grande Mineral Pool boasting an impressive array of hydrotherapy features.  In keeping with the aquatic theme woven throughout the spa, the Casa Privada highlights its own hot soaking pool floating within a refreshing dip pool.

The spa harnesses nature throughout the experience, through the drinks and snacks served in the garden lounge, compresses crafted from local herbs and treatment rooms enveloped by tropical foliage and desert succulents.  Guests will discover diverse treatment environments including six well-appointed private rooms with outdoor showers, a couples’ suite with a changing room and steam shower leading to an outdoor soaking tub, a scrub station and seating area, and the Casa Privada: a self-contained spa retreat for groups and special celebrations, with an indoor/outdoor dining and resting lounge, treatment studio, and beauty and grooming annex.

Honoring Gracious Hospitality and the Authentic Experiences Today’s Travelers Crave

Vibrant and engaging, the spa’s arrival also functions as a specialty retail destination stocked with an assortment of personal care and lifestyle categories. Adjacent to the arrival area and framed by lovely garden views, the Salon offers elevated beauty and grooming services to get primed for the beach or primped for a special event.

A guided experience with do-it-yourself elements, the spa’s Templo Caliente is a modern rendition of Temazcal (house of heat) to purify body, mind and spirit. The ritual begins with a traditional energy clearing ceremony followed by a cleansing botanical scrub. The gradual heat generated within a freestanding sauna/steam structure promotes detoxification, and the cooling outdoor shower promotes circulation and stimulates the immune system.

Serene and Social, Designed for Introspection or Gathering

Spa Alkemia features private nooks to rest and recharge, while communal spaces are designed for guests to gather and socialize.  An homage to the traditional town square of Mexican communities, the Zócalo is the spa’s main relaxation area: a blended indoor/outdoor lounge within a garden setting with seating areas dispersed around a central fire feature pit. In the Savasana Sound Room, guests experience deep rest and recovery while sound therapy vibrates through the floors with corresponding surround-sound music to usher the brain into a deep meditative state.

Juxtaposing a highly sophisticated and sensorial setting with an easygoing and approachable vibe, the spa encourages guests to let go and fully engage in the experience.  Whether relaxing alfresco after a luxurious treatment, feeling stress melt away in Templo Caliente, or meditating amid vibrating soundwaves, guests will immerse themselves in a heightened state of well-being at Spa Alkemia.
